Hey Builders, building your best you! Welcome to Nuts-n-Bolts Video Notes! Today we're going to go over a Build UR Best U accountability tool.

Coach Beckie here, Your Go-To Resource for Healthy Weight Loss Transformation. So let's get to it!

When you're working towards a goal being held accountable is key. The Build UR Best U Accountability Jars are a great way to keep you honest and on-track. Here's how it works:

  1. Rather than keeping track of what you did, you keep track of when you went off of your plan.
  2. You'll need two clear jars. One will be your start-date jar and the other your end-date jar;
  3. And as with every Build UR Best U project, this will be time bound. So I want you to calculate how many days you gave yourself to reach your goal which would be the length of your project. So let's say your project is nine-weeks. So take 9 weeks x 7 days which comes to 63 days.
    So, you need to find 63 small objects that will fit into the jars. For example, as you can see, I use marbles but beads, buttons, nails, nuts-n-bolts...it doesn't matter.
    They all just need to fit into each jar.
  4. You then need a pad of paper and a pen that will sit next to the jars.
  5. And as with every Build UR Best U project, you-have-a-plan that you're going to execute throughout these 63 days. So every time you get derailed, go off your plan, you'll come back to your Accountability Jars and do two things:
    a. write the date, the date of the week, what you did and why you did it. For example, I eat clean Sunday night through Friday afternoon. Let's say I had a piece of cake on a Monday then I would go to my Accountability Jars and write down the date, the day of the week, what I did and why I did it.
    b. I would then place one of the marbles from my start-day jar into my end-date jar.
  6. Hopefully, by the end of your project, your end-date jar will not get filled-up, but if it does, then you'll have a good visual to help you see how many times you strayed from your plan. However, you'll then NOT be able to use the excuse of saying that this method of trying to lose weight did not work. It didn't work because you didn't do the work!
  7. So, at the end of your project, count how many objects were put into your end-date jar and also read the notes that you took to see if there were any trends in regard to what derailed you. For example, was there a trend in regard to the day of the week that took you off track or perhaps a trend with a certain emotion or feeling that kept presenting itself. In the event that you did not reach your goal then this information is invaluable so that adjustments can then be made that will enable you to reach your goal.
  8. Alternatively, perhaps there were only a few items in your end-date jar. If so, then congratulations because I'm going to venture to say that you reached your goal!
    Which is Awesome!
